Here Are Some Information About Queen Bee

There are a variety of bee species, but not all play the same role or behave in the same manner. The queen bee is a mature and mated female living in the bee colony. Queens evolved from larvae and are chosen by worker bees. Queens are also specifically nourished to become sexually developed. To raise a Queen, you need the right queen rearing supplies, which we will discuss in one of the points below.

Role of the queen.

The queen bee is the only female in the colony that reproduces. She is responsible for laying all of the eggs required to generate new bees and establish the colony. She also has a role in directing the behavior, work assignments for workers, and balancing the population of the colony.

The lifespan of a Queen bee.

A queen bee can live for about two to three years on average. Worker bees only survive a few weeks to a few months depending on the season. Within that time frame, the hive can transform into an entirely new set of bees. Also, there are different types of bee species. When a queen bee of another subspecies takes the place of a queen in a hive, the colony also changes over the next few weeks, and new bees will be born from the new eggs laid by the new queen.

How does a queen bee generally look like?

Queen bees are generally a little larger than other bees in the hive. She also has a more pointed abdomen and often, has more golden shaded hair on her body. Because the queen bee plays such a significant role in the colony, beekeepers sometimes mark her with paint to better locate her.

You would need the right supplies to rare queen bees.

To raise a bee queen, you need to make sure that you have a proper hive and other supplies. For instance, an 8 or 10 frame, an aluminum-clad top covers and inner covers, bottom boards, feeders, foundation swarm traps, and other queen rearing supplies.

If you plan to raise a queen bee, make sure you get the right queen rearing supplies.
